United Way is a volunteer organization. Every year hundreds of volunteers do the work of United Way. These individuals raise money to fund the agencies, and they study the programs and finances of the agencies to make sure the dollars are well spent. Those same volunteers are the ones who allocate the money raised in campaign. Volunteers govern United Way and determine policy, meet in executive sessions once a month, do the planning, operate the communications committee…. The list goes on and on.
United Way of North Central Mississippi is governed by a 30 member volunteer Board of Directors. This professional staff consists of an Executive Director and part time secretary.
